Travelling with severe allergies

At Flair, the safety and comfort of our passengers are our priorities. We understand the challenges faced by travelers with severe allergies and strive to provide clear guidance and support to help manage allergy-related concerns during your journey.

Packing medication for allergies

Flair strongly recommends that travellers with severe allergies pack all necessary medications, including epinephrine auto-injectors (e.g., EpiPen, Allerject), in their carry-on baggage. Checked baggage may not always be accessible during the flight, so having medication within reach is essential.

Options available when allergens are on board

While Flair cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment or provide compensation, we offer the following options if a traveller identifies that their allergen is present on the flight (confirmed visually by the traveller on board):

  • Rebooking: If a traveller is not comfortable flying, we will book them on the next available Flair flight to their original destination at no additional cost.
  • Full Refund: Travellers who elect not to travel at all will receive a full refund of the flight cost (base fare plus taxes and surcharges). Refunds cannot be issued after the flight has departed.

Food allergens in the cabin

As a public transportation provider, Flair cannot guarantee a completely allergen-free cabin. However, we encourage travellers with severe food allergies to bring their own food items and inform us in advance.

  • Flair’s onboard snacks do not contain peanuts, but some items may contain traces of peanuts or be processed in facilities that handle peanuts.
  • We cannot monitor food brought on board by other passengers. Nut residue, oils, or other allergens may be present on surfaces like tray tables or seat cushions despite our regular cleaning efforts.

To help mitigate risks, please provide as much advance notice as possible regarding your allergy needs.

Seating accommodations

If you have a severe allergy, please inform a flight attendant or crew member as soon as possible. Flair takes the following steps to assist:

  1. Proximity Precautions: Passengers seated near you will be requested to refrain from consuming food products that may trigger your allergy.
  2. Public Announcements: Upon request, a public announcement can be made to notify other passengers of your allergy and request cooperation.
  3. Medical Preparedness: We strongly encourage travellers with severe allergies to carry their epinephrine auto-injector and have it readily available.

Medical Accommodations

If a passenger's allergy is severe and requires a medical accommodation, such as a buffer-zone, please download our Medical Accommodation form. This form needs to be completed by your physician and emailed to our Medical Desk Team at [email protected] no less than 48 hours before the flight's departure.

At Flair Airlines, we are committed to providing a safe travel experience for everyone. If you have any questions or require additional assistance, please contact us prior to your flight.
