Old Apothecary and Public Gardens
To start off your day right, grab coffee, breakfast and baked goods from The Old Apothecary on Barrington Street. Walk up Spring Garden Road to the Halifax Public Gardens for a stroll. There are plenty of benches and shade for you to enjoy your breakfast.
Halifax Seaport Farmers' Market
If it’s a Saturday or Sunday, spend your entire morning at the Halifax Seaport Farmers’ Market, where you can visit the rooftop patio, shop from local artisans and simply do what the locals do.
Take the 15-minute ferry across the Halifax harbour to Downtown Dartmouth and have lunch at The Canteen. They are famous for their “Crobster Roll". Spend some more time shopping or checking out the local businesses in Dartmouth, top recommendations include Lake City Cider and KEPT.
Head back over the harbor to downtown Halifax and visit one of Halifax’s many museums or galleries including the Art Gallery of Nova Scotia and Halifax Citadel National Historic Site.
Stroll the waterfront boardwalk and eat dinner at The Bicycle Thief, a waterfront patio. For dessert, get some ice cream or a beaver tail from COWS.
Brunch and donuts
Start the day off with breakfast/brunch at EDNA! Walk a few extra blocks to Vandal Donuts for the BEST treats in town! The donuts, fritters and other pastries come in an adorable pink box (keep your eyes peeled and you’ll see these boxes everywhere!)
When you google Halifax, do you often find pictures of lighthouses? Rent a car and drive to Peggy’s Cove to see it for yourself. Note: the drive is approximately 40 minutes from Downtown Halifax.
